BikeWalkKC’s mobility analysis for Woodland Elementary incorporated data gathering and synthesis of all of the factors that impact a student’s ability to safely and comfortably walk or bike to school. This included everything from the behavior of students and parents at arrival and dismissal, to the quality of the physical infrastructure on and around the school site, to the school policies and procedures that support or hinder walking and biking. BikeWalkKC – in partnership with the Jefferson County Growth Association (JCGA), the Jefferson Foundation, and Trailnet – crafted the first countywide walking and biking strategy to increase access and safety for people walking and biking. This effort has two main goals: 1) to coordinate efforts to catalyze a county-wide movement to make walking and biking a safe and easy option, and 2) to galvanize local efforts of the individual communities in Jefferson County. West Pennway Street Redesign Implementation Plan

This community-focused project explores a redesign of West Pennway between 17th Street and 21st Street. This planning process presented opportunities to increase connectivity for the Westside community and improve safety for all those who walk, bike, use public transit, and drive to the many destinations connected by this corridor. BikeWalkKC provided technical design guidance and best practices in bike, pedestrian, traffic calming, and transit design to create an integrated street that supports the needs of neighborhood residents. Woodland Plaza: Planning Equitable Mobility

This Woodland Plaza Equitable Mobility Study worked alongside community members and stakeholders to address systemic barriers to transportation, including income, languages spoken, housing and food security, education, and more. BikeWalkKC focused on three strategies to address the barriers: improving transit operations, forming new partnerships and solidifying existing ones to support community members, and focusing on feasible infrastructure solutions that would make a true difference.
