Adult Education Programs and Classes

BikeWalkKC offers a wide range of classes, programs, and events for adults, youth, neighborhood leaders, and transportation professionals.

Are you interested in riding, but could use a little more information to help boost your confidence? Would you like to learn how to do basic bike maintenance? Is your neighborhood association or school applying for street safety improvement? Let's work together!

Confident City Cycling

KC’s most comprehensive adult bike training offered over three separate evening sessions. Participants  learn new concepts for navigating streets and build practical bike handling skills necessary for city riding. The course culminates with an on-street ride to use new skills in a safe and supportive environment.

Learn to Ride

Education instructors teach people of all ages how to ride bikes. We use a very relaxed method that builds confidence and that does not utilize training wheels.

Maintain Your Ride

This hands-on course for both youth and adults teaches participants the parts of a bike and basic maintenance including removing a wheel, adjusting brakes, fixing a flat, chain repair, and much more to keep your bike in top shape! This program can be combined with Earn-A-Bike

Earn-A-Bike

We can donate gently used bikes that have been repaired by our trained mechanics. We always pair this program with an educational lesson on bike safety, maintenance, or learning how to pedal.

Walk Audit

Walk Audits are a tool communities use to document the infrastructure and environment around their neighborhoods, schools, and more. In our all-ages program, participants will conduct a Walk Audit in their communities to document existing biking and walking infrastructure. Participants are encouraged to share these findings with local elected officials to encourage making biking, walking, and rolling safer and more accessible.

Become a Cycling Instructor

Occasionally, BikeWalkKC hosts a multi-day training to become a Licensed Cycling Instructor with the League of American Bicyclists. Learn more about the LCI program.
