Parents and Families

forparents

We offer a range of services and resources to help families across the metro area get active by safely walking and bicycling for transportation, recreation, and fitness. We work with local school districts, cities, and law enforcement agencies to address physical, safety, and policy barriers to children walking or bicycling to school. Kids that bike or walk to school arrive ready to learn and have fewer problems with attention and health.

Walk and Bike to School Month/International Walk to School Day

BikeWalkKC leads the regional participation in these October events. Help your school participate with a rally, Walking School Bus, Bicycling School Bus, or other creative event. Visit WalkToSchoolKC.com to learn more.

Bicycle Skills Classes

  • Free and low-cost classes for families of all skill levels.
  • Ride safely and confidently for recreation, transportation, fitness, or fun!
  • Haul your kids, groceries – and more – by bike, safely and comfortably.
  • Learn basic bike maintenance skills to keep your family’s bikes working smoothly between visits to the bike shop.

 Customized Classes

We offer a range of options to customize a class, program, or lunch-and-learn for your neighborhood, congregation, business, or other organization. We can even help you advocate for a neighborhood improvement like a crosswalk, sidewalk, or trail.
