BikeWalkKC assisted the Academie Lafayette Charter School in Kansas City, Missouri with an arrival and dismissal analysis to assess traffic patterns, school policies and procedures, and student travel decisions. This analysis includes a mix of quantitative and qualitative observations, as well as direct engagement of parents, teachers, and administrators to provide context to the technical analysis. Using a row of traffic cones to establish a physical barrier between the parent vehicle drop-off zone and the through traffic lane, improving traffic and crossing enforcement on specific streets during dismissal, and a reconfiguration of bus and parent loading areas to reduce overflow into adjacent streets.
