In preparation for a 2017 expansion of the Kansas City B-Cycle bike share system to North Kansas City - the first stations in the network north of the Missouri River - BikeWalkKC assisted North Kansas City with planning and engagement to guide the expansion. BikeWalkKC mobilized community stakeholders and regional advocates to participate in a public process to determine where potential bike share stations should be located. BikeWalkKC analyzed and presented data relevent to the community choices, including planned bicycle infrastructure, population and employment density, topography, transit operations, and other factors. For this process, BikeWalkKC also developed an interactive mapping tool that enabled both public meeting participants and online participants to crowd-source feedback on preferred station locations, ideal bike routes, likely trips and more. Using this data, BikeWalkKC is working with North Kansas City to finalize installation and operational details to get the new stations up and running.
