Women Bike KC News
Women Bike KC is an initiative of BikeWalkKC that provides education, resources and encouragement to get more women, trans, femme, and non-binary people on bicycles and ultimately participate in our community as riders and leaders. If you missed the latest newsletter, sign up now to receive the next one, and then read on to find bike stories, fall classes, and fun events!

What’s your bike story? We asked guests of the 2018 Women’s Bike Summit that question, and we found a few common themes:
- Friendship is magic: Not a single person came to biking on their own. Each person credited a loved one introducing them to bicycling, and many mentioned meeting new friends while bicycling.
- Mobility is freedom: People talked about “feeling the wind in my hair” and “exploring the city” and “finding adventures.”
- Active living is healthy: Some people started bicycling to get active, and a few mentioned mental and emotional benefits to bicycling.
Take a listen (or read the transcripts) to these stories on our Women Bike KC page, and share your own story here!
