BikeWalkKC takes a sneak peek at the Rock Island corridor in Jackson County ahead of trail construction.
Later this year Jackson County’s Rock Island Rail Corridor Authority will kick-off construction of the first phase of trail between the Truman Sports Complex and western Lee’s Summit. Some of us snuck out of the BikeWalkKC office for an afternoon tour of the corridor in its pre-construction state. We found a beautiful natural area with views of White Oak Creek and the Little Blue River, ramping up our exciting for trail opening in late 2018!
Note: the corridor is not open to the public, we were escorted by the trail planners. There are many hazards and it is off limits until 2018!

As we get closer to achieving this goal we continue working across the metro area to ensure walking and biking are front and center on the political agenda.
