Bike/Ped stats in the KCMO Citizens Satisfaction Survey

Every year the City of KCMO surveys residents about their satisfaction with city services and infrastructure. Here are some highlights from the most recent survey.

  • Residents were least satisfied with the overall maintenance of streets, sidewalks and infrastructure (16%).
  • Maintenance of streets, sidewalks and infrastructure identified as one of the top three most important issues to residents.
  • Citizen satisfaction with “Access to streets/sidewalks/buildings for people with disabilities decreased by 2.1% from the previous year.
  • Citizen satisfaction with “Maintenance of streets in your neighborhood” has dropped 5.5% from the previous year.
  • Citizen satisfaction with “Condition of sidewalks in your neighborhood” has dropped 3.7% from the previous year.
  • Citizen satisfaction with “On-street bicycle infrastructure” has improved by 0.5% from the previous year.
  • Citizen satisfaction with “Condition of sidewalks in the city” has dropped by 0.7% from the previous year.
  • There were no increases in satisfaction ratings in any of the City streets, sidewalks and infrastructure services that were rated in both 2005 and 2019-20.
  • 62% of survey respondents were dissatisfied with the maintenance of streets, sidewalks, and infrastructure.
  • Among Major Categories of City Services, “Maintenance of streets, sidewalks, and infrastructure” was the clear choice at over 63%.
