BikeWalkKC's Safe Routes to School Program is gearing up for back to school
In 1969, 50% of kids walked or biked to school. Today less than 15% do. Today's kids have a shortage of physical activity, and are the first generation of Americans with a shorter life expectency than their parents.
Our Safe Routes to School programs are working with local schools, governments, and neighborhoods to make it safer and easier for kids to walk and bike school. International Walk to School Day on October 9th is a great opportunity to walk your kids to school, or even organize a Walking School Bus with your neighbors.
