Speak Up for Safety Improvements along St. John Avenue!

Make plans to attend one of two open houses next week at Healing House (4505 St. John Avenue, Kansas City, MO 64123).

Neighborhood leaders and city staff are working to develop safety improvements for St. John Avenue and want to hear from you.

Thanks to the efforts of folks in the Indian Mound Neighborhood Association, Public Improvement Advisory Committee (PIAC) funding has been allocated to make safety improvements along St. John Avenue from Elmwood Avenue to Belmont Boulevard. You can learn more about the project by clicking here.

Two public meetings are scheduled to share the proposed changes with community stakeholders and gather feedback:

Public Meeting #1
Thursday, May 16, 2024
5:30-7:00 PM
Healing House (4505 St. John Avenue, KCMO 64123)

Public Meeting #2
Saturday, May 18, 2024
2:00-3:30 PM
Healing House (4505 St. John Avenue, KCMO 64123)

This is a great opportunity to speak up for multimodal facilities and traffic calming in the area. The need for such improvements takes on added significance in light of other traffic crashes in the area in recent days. That includes a hit-and-run crash which killed 46-year-old Kita Bee on Independence Avenue and another hit-and-run crash which critically injured an unidentified pedestrian near Belmont Boulevard.
