Staff news: Eric Bunch and Michael Kelley

On August 1st, 2019, BikeWalkKC Co-Founder Eric Bunch was sworn in as City Councilmember for KCMO’s 4th District and transitioned to a new role in the organization.

Eric has been with BikeWalkKC since the beginning, as a Co-Founder, Education Director, and most recently Policy Director. His leadership has been critical for the organization’s growth and development into one of the country’s largest and most successful advocacy organizations for active transportation.

Going forward, Eric will hand off his work on public policy and advocacy to serve in a part-time capacity as our Director of Strategic Initiatives. In this new role, he will support BikeWalkKC’s leadership team in strategic planning, program design, and fund development. As we celebrate our 10th anniversary in 2020, Eric will help us update our strategic plan and ensure BikeWalkKC is positioned for success in our second decade of redefining our streets as places for people to build a culture of active living.

Our public policy and advocacy work at local City Halls, State Capitals, and the federal government will now be led by Policy Manager Michael Kelley. Michael joined BikeWalkKC as Policy Coordinator in 2017 and contributed to advocacy wins like the KCMO Complete Streets policy. He also represents people who walk and bike on the KCMO Environmental Management Commission and chairs the Policy Committee for Healthy Communities Wyandotte in KCK.

Please join us in congratulating Eric and thanking him for his leadership!
