Transit officials are studying a second streetcar extension to Berkley Riverfront Park, possibly using the existing and narrow Grand Avenue viaduct that currently connects the City Market with the riverfront. Your voice is needed at the public meeting on May 31st to help BikeWalkKC ensure good bike and pedestrian access is included from the beginning.
The project is at a very preliminary stage, studying what options exist and if any of them are financially feasible. Some important questions to ask include:
- How will conditions on the bridge improve for pedestrians who currently walk and run in the street?
- Where will people be able to bike safely if streetcar tracks are added to the viaduct?
- When will the bike/ped improvements be made? At the same time as the streetcar construction, or at some future date?
