Bike Month 2016 is here! We wanted to take a moment and highlight the events we already have planned for this year and encourage you to go to the KC Bike Month site and add your own!
- National Bike To School Day is Wednesday, May 4th. Ask your school about what they have planned and be sure to share it with our calendar. IT IS NOT TOO LATE TO ADD YOU OWN. In addition, Burke Elementary will hold their field day on May 13th and will have bike-themed activities.
- The KC Streetcar, which will allow complimentary roll-on and off service for bikes, will open to the public on May 6th at 10 a.m. More information about the streetcar events.
- The Inaugural National Protected Bike Lane Week is May 9th-13th. We will be exploring this and other infrastructure dedicated to making biking easier on our site that week.
- Family Bicycles, a business member and partner, will host their Family Fun Ride on May 16th from 6:30 p.m.-7:30 p.m., starting at Family Bicycles in Waldo.
- Our annual Tour de Bier brewery history ride will be held on Sunday May 15th. Go here for registration information and information on the three routes.
- Our Women’s-Only Confident City Cycling Class starts on May 17th and continues on May 24th and May 31st at our Midtown offices at 3269 Gilliam Road. Register now!
- The Rosedale Neighborhood Association is hosting the Princess Bride as their 2016 Bike-In Movie on Thursday, May 19th from 7 p.m. to 11 p.m.
- The Kansas City Fun Ride group has their next group ride scheduled on May 22, 2016 at Boulevard Brewery.
- Some of our B-cycle stations have special Bike Week posters All 37 stations will be open and available, starting at $3 per 30 minute ride. Go here to sign up for an annual membership, for even more cost savings.
- And finally, whatever adventures you find yourself engaging in this month, please use the hashtags #kcbikemonth and #whyIrideKC to chronicle them. Also, Bike Smithfield Lake specifically wants you to ride their trails this month!
