The City of Mission needs your help to develop a plan to eliminate traffic fatalities and severe injuries.
One of the major items to come out of the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law was the creation of the Safe Streets and Roads for All (SS4A) grant program. The program is intended to support local, regional, and Tribal efforts to prevent roadway deaths and serious injuries. As BikeWalkKC has noted, nearly $2 million from the program came to local communities in the most recent round in 2024.
The City of Mission was one of those recipients, and now they’re getting to work!
City leaders are developing a safety action plan to guide their efforts to eliminate traffic fatalities and severe injuries for road users. This plan is intended to help identify where crashes occur, prioritize improvements to reduce crashes, and enhance Mission streets to ensure all people feel safe when walking, biking, riding, rolling, or driving.

This is a great opportunity for you to get involved and help to make Mission a safer place for active transportation. Here’s how:
- Fill out the Mission Safe Streets Community Survey to help city leaders better understand which areas to focus on and what sorts of improvements should be prioritized.
- Use the Safe Streets Interactive Map to identify places in Mission where you have concerns about traffic safety.
Mission has been making progress with active transportation policies, plans, and projects because everyday people are getting involved. YOU can be a part of the change that they’re working to bring about!
