Proclamations aplenty for Bike Month

May is Bike Month! According to the League of American Bicyclists, the occasion (first established in 1956) “is a chance to showcase the many benefits of bicycling — and encourage more folks to [give] biking a try.”

Bike Month is also a celebration, and as part of that celebration, BikeWalkKC and the Mid-America Regional Council have reached out to a number of communities across the metro to request proclamations recognizing Bike Month. The documents are non-binding from a legislative standpoint, but still hold symbolic significance as they illustrate an important acknowledgement of the power of biking.
