In 2018 BikeWalkKC compiled a database of bike infrastructure throughout the Kansas City region. With more than 1,300 infrastructure bike, trail, and shared use path segments totaling more than 700 miles, this database provides a comprehensive snapshot of where and how bicycle infrastructure is connecting our communities.
We are in the process of updating our bike infrastructure database with all of the new projects completed since 2018, and we have been blown away by how much progress the region has made in just the past two years – more than 100 new projects (and counting) in all parts of the region.
As we complete our update over the next few months, we are excited to share some of the many success stories and quantify the impressive results of your collective community advocacy. Our region’s cities are hearing you and responding to our growing chorus of voices calling for walkable neighborhoods, traffic calming and street improvements, designated bikeways, and improved connectivity. Stay tuned for more information about the bike infrastructure database, and visit our Community Planning website to see our other work.
