47th Street Complete Street Public Open House, January 23

Family Earn-A-Bike in KCK
What’s better than a free bike? How about earning that bike with your parent? During a week-long Family Earn-A-Bike program at Emerson Elementary in Kansas City, Kansas, students and guardians worked together learning basic maintenance techniques, practicing their bike handling skills and riding together. Typically, the program is delivered over a 6-8 week period, however, this condensed format was easier for parents to commit to and held the attention spans of the youth. In all, 16 students and 14 parents earned bikes and Kansas City, Kansas gained 30 new cyclists!
Do you have a bicycle to donate to our Earn-A-Bike program? Contact us at info@bikewalkkc.org for details on how you can pay it forward.
Local Advisory Committees
Interest in more bikable and walkable communities is growing across the metro, with motivated citizens organizing awareness campaigns, walking school buses, and bike rides to promote active living in Kansas City and beyond. If you’ve been looking for ways to deepen your engagement, consider joining a local advisory committee! The voices of individual bicyclists and pedestrians are invaluable in redefining streets as places for people, and your city needs you to speak up. For more information about how you can be affect change in your neighborhood, visit our In Your Community page.
BikeWalkKC is redefining our streets as places for people to build a culture of active living, and your membership supports these efforts. Thank you!
