Ride bikes. Support local breweries. Create a better Kansas City.

Thank you to everyone who participated in the 2020 Tour de Bier! We are grateful to our sponsors, riders, brewery partners, Bar K, volunteers, and event partners for creating a successful celebration in the midst of a global pandemic. Stay tuned for details about 2021 and beyond!

The Tour de Bier is SOLD OUT!

We love celebrating with all of you, but COVID-19 is still with us, and there is simply no safe way to convene everyone for a single-day, in-person event. Your health is our greatest priority. However, we’re excited to offer you a great Tour de Bier experience as you ride your bike, support a great cause, and support our local breweries. Grab your bike and mask,* and head out for a self-guided Virtual Tour de Bier any time between Saturday, August 15 through Tuesday, September 15 to explore KC’s brewing past and present.

* Masks are mandatory in indoor, public spaces as of July 1, 2020.

What does your registration get you?

Just as with our typical Tour de Bier event, your registration includes:

  • Access to three curated routes (choose from 12-, 30-, and 42-miles)
  • A digital packet including FREE samples at up to five of the ten participating breweries
  • FREE lunch from our partners at Bar K and a sweet deal from our friends and Boulevard Tours & Recreation Center
  • A special COVID-19 edition Tour de Bier t-shirt (you must be registered by Tuesday, JULY 28 to guarantee your t-shirt)
  • The knowledge that you’re supporting a GREAT cause: better streets, sidewalks, bikeways, transit, and trails for all people in the Kansas City region

But wait: there’s more!
Every registrant gets a chance to win a BRAND NEW PEDEGO E-BIKE or KUAT NV RACK! You may also purchase additional chances to win. Winners will be announced on September 16, 2020.

As always, you can choose your distance. Downloadable maps were E-MAILED to you on August 8. All routes begin and finish at Berkley Riverfront Park:

The Lager tour is approximately 13 miles and hits all the highlights of brewing history in Kansas City. Roll by old breweries, ice houses and discover the best of Kansas City’s rich brewing history in a cool tour of Kansas City’s urban core. This tour will take you through North Kansas City, the River Market, Crossroads, and Downtown.

IPA Tour is approximately 30 miles, and the best of both worlds from NKC to Westport. This tour hits many historic KC highlights including beautiful Cliff Drive, the Nelson-Atkins, and the 18th and Vine District, past many lovely old homes in some of Kansas City’s famous historic neighborhoods.

Dunkel is approximately 42 miles long and is for those who want to get in some more miles and learn about beer history. This route takes you past the major highlights, crosses into Kansas for the first time in Tour history, and then east to Crane Brewery in Raytown. After that, you return on the beautiful streets of southern Jackson County to finish your Tour riding through historic neighborhoods of Kansas City.

REMEMBER: For all three routes commuter, touring, hybrid and mountain bikes are recommended, but not necessary. This is an urban ride, and will will experience railroad crossings, pot holes, and rough spots. The Tour can be ridden with skinny tires but bring some tubes and a pump! The 2020 Tour de Bier is self-supported - see below for more information.

Your registration entitles you to up to five free samples from our 10 participating breweries (limit one sample per brewery). Always be kind to the brewery staff! Note that the busiest times for the breweries will be on the weekends. Consider scheduling your ride during the week to avoid crowds.

  • Breweries have limited occupancy and space (in general, no more than 50% of building occupancy). Please consider scheduling your ride during less busy times; check brewery hours before setting out.
  • If the brewery has reached their capacity per the regional mandate, they will not be able to serve you and you may have to come back at a later time. Your mobile drink tickets are available for the full 31-day event period of August 15-September 15.
  • Masks/face coverings are required in all indoor establishments with few exceptions. All businesses have the right to refuse service to anyone not wearing a mask.
  • Restaurants and breweries are being encouraged to keep a log of all patrons who spend more than 10 minutes inside.

  • Bar K has bike parking! Besides their permanent rack near the front door, they have additional bike parking (LOCATION) and Berkley Riverfront Park across the street has even more bike parking.
  • Use the Transit App to find a RideKC bus headed to the Riverfront (every bus has a bike rack on the front). All buses are currently free to ride and masks are required to board.
  • Bar K’s parking lot has plenty of space.  Follow the signs on Berkley Parkway to find a spot. If you’re going to leave your car all day while you ride, consider leaving the spots closest to the door for Bar K’s active customers.

That's absolutely right! Thanks to our sponsors, all registered Tour de Bier participants get ONE chance to win a sweet new e-bike from Pedego Kansas City or the awesome NV Rack from Küat. (Each registrant gets one entry for the e-bike and one entry for the rack.) You may purchase additional chances when you initially register or in our online store.

Winners will be selected through a random drawing on Wednesday, September 16 and notified by e-mail.

The routes are provided to guide you through KC’s brewing past and present, and includes mile markers and other helpful details to get you from brewery to brewery. You may deviate as you wish but we encourage you to always remain aware of your surroundings as you explore the city on two wheels. You may also redeem any of your free samples at time(s) of your choosing within the ride period (August 15-September 15, 2020), during the breweries’ regular operating hours.

Be sure to share your virtual ride with us! Use #tourdebierkc and tag us at @tourdebierkc.

Our friends at Bar K will have your merchandise awaiting your arrival during the event period (August 15-September 15).

We love your enthusiasm for the Tour de Bier! Even though riders have August 15-September 15 to participate, we understand that many people will ride on weekends when small breweries' limited capacity is already stretched. In the interest of rider and brewery staff safety, we capped registration at 750 and we're encouraging riders to visit breweries during non-peak hours.

The Tour de Bier is BikeWalkKC’s annual fundraising event, and has always been a no-refunds event (this is indicated on the ticket order form as well). If you are unable to participate, we hope you will consider your registration as a donation to BikeWalkKC, which works to make Kansas City a better place to bike, walk, live, work, and play. Note that unused tickets can automatically be considered a charitable donation. And as part of the pandemic rescue program, the IRS will allow everyone to deduct up to $300 in charitable donations from their 2020 tax returns, even if they wouldn't normally be able to make itemized deductions.

You may transfer your ticket to another person at no charge by editing your ticket information in Eventbrite. Click here for additional information. If you transfer, be sure you update all contact info to the new ticket holder. The digital packets will be delivered via email, and each packet is unique and are not transferrable once they've been sent.

If your registration has become a financial hardship as a result of COVID-19, please call Karen Campbell at (816) 205-7056, extension 2.

Thank you to our 2020 Tour de Bier sponsors and partners!
