2017 is a year of change on the BikeWalkKC board as several of our founding board members reach their six-year term limits and new members bring in fresh ideas and new energy. We want to say a huge thank you to the founding members who contributed invaluable time, energy, sweat, and leadership. They have been crucial to our rapid growth since BikeWalkKC launched in 2011 and has now become of one the country’s largest and most successful local advocacy and education organizations.

Malenda Shahane
VP and Senior Healthcare Marketing Manager at UMB Financial
Malenda is a resident of the Historic Northeast and has been a long-time BikeWalkKC member. She is involved in Northeast neighborhood advocacy, on the board of Northeast Neighbor to Neighbor. Malenda is a runner and helps with the annual Cliffhanger 5k on Cliff Drive. We are excited to add representation from the Historic Northeast Neighborhoods, were BikeWalkKC is doing significant work in Safe Routes to School and improving transportation options in underserved communities.
John Jespersen, MBA
Lead Advisor at Buttonwood Financial Group
John is a Downtowner, and a daily bike commuter living car-free. His community service includes working with Harvesters, the Ronald McDonald House, the Downtown Council, and most recently serving on the board of El Centro. John brings BikeWalkKC valuable experience in nonprofit governance and financial leadership that will important as we continue to grow and thrive.
