KC Women’s Bike Summit Registration Now Open
Returning for the third year on September 10th. We want you and all of your friends to feel comfortable getting on a bicycle in whatever way you want to get on a bicycle. We also want to encourage more women to participate in their communities as riders and leaders, and bring the nationwide momentum of more women on bikes to Kansas City.

First Friday Art Show on August 5th
Support Kansas City B-cycle and experience a unique art show that celebrates human movement. All proceeds will help us maintain and grow our bike share program’s 28 stations and 160 bikes.

Transportation Camp Midwest on August 13th
TransportationCamp is an unconference bringing together transportation professionals, technologists, academics, and others interested in the intersection of urban transportation and technology. Learn to bike confidently and comfortably
This month we have three great classes that will help you bike more confidently, comfortably, and safely – two of the especially for the Women Bike KC community.
- August 3rd: Maintain Your Ride – Learn about the tools, tips, and ricks to keep your bike running cool all summer long.
- August 11th: Women Only Confident City Cycling – Learn new concepts for navigating streets and build practical bike handling skills necessary for city riding. Thursday evenings in August.
- August 13th: Women Bike KC Trailer Workshop – Transform your regular bike trailer into cargo-hauling machine.
Lawrence Schools take BikeWalkKC’s BLAST curriculum city-wide
This spring we spent a month in Lawrence conducting a trial of our BLAST Kids on Bikes program a four elementary schools in partnership with the Lawrence Health Department. Now the school district is making the program a permanent of the PE program and bringing bike education to all Lawrence elementary schools.
Since 2012 our Youth Education programs have served over 7,500 kids in dozens of schools across the KC metro area. Now we are excited to see the Lawrence community come together to bring the benefits of school-based bike education to another city. Read more…
Operation Breakthrough’s Leadership Class Visits BikeWalkKC
Another new venue for bike education this summer is Operation Breakthrough, an early education and social services agency serving 400 children a day from the urban core. We’ve been spending the summer offering BLAST Kids on Bikes classes to many of Operation Breakthrough’s students. The leadership class of older students biked over to the BikeWalkKC office to visit our staff and see the Kansas City B-cycle bike share shop. Read more…
