We are hiring a Community Outreach Summer Intern and looking for a graduate student or recent graduate in planning, public administration, public health, or a related field.

KCMO City Council candidates talk about streetcar expansion and biking on boulevards
Kansas City, Missouri City Council elections are fast-approaching on June 23. BikeWalkKC and the Regional Transit Alliance hosted a candidate forum on May 11 to provide a platform for voters to hear where different candidates stand on issues related to walking, biking and transit. If you couldn’t be with us on in person, you can still watch the full candidate forum online.
International Bike to School Day around the metro
On May 6, children, parents, educators and community members participated in International Bike to School Day to bring attention to how walking and biking to school are fun ways to encourage healthy, active lifestyles. BikeWalkKC celebrated at Whittier Elementary in Kansas City, Missouri, with a morning bike ride with Principal Luis Hinojosa, KC Public Schools Superintendent Dr. Stephen Green, KCMO City Councilmember Jermaine Reed, and U.S. Representative Emanuel Cleaver II.
We heard from several other schools sharing their experience with us via #BikeToSchoolKC.
Bike to Work Day 2015
During Bike to Work Week and Day, workers around the metro discovered the joy of commuting on two wheels instead of four. Rest stops along area bike trails provided snacks for bike commuters in Leawood, Overland Park, and KCMO, and BikeShareKC was part of the fun in downtown. Biking to work is an easy way to incorporate some exercise into your morning routine, plus we think it’s pretty darn fun. We hope you can join us next year!
Invest in better walking and biking with a monthly donation to BikeWalkKC
BikeWalkKC’s dedicated team of advocates and educators work hard to build bike culture like you’ve seen this month. We rely on your support to fight for more bike lanes, sidewalks, and trails. Becoming a member of BikeWalkKC or making an extra donation is a direct investment in better places to walk and bike.
Now are making it even easier with our new monthly donation option. Set up a recurring contribution of any amount and your investment will pay off for years to come.
2015 Tour de Bier KC and New Belgium Clips events were the biggest yet
Did you ride Tour de Bier KC on May 17? Did you enjoy beer and films under the stars at New Belgium Clips? If so, you were part of the two largest BikeWalkKC annual fundraising events yet! More than 1,200 riders sampled biers and visited breweries from NKC to Martin City during Tour de Bier, and 2,300 of our newest best friends viewed original films and unique beer at New Belgium Clips. We thoroughly enjoyed hosting every one of you and hope to see you again for these favorite Kansas City events in 2016!
We could not have had such great events without the support of our sponsors, partner breweries, and volunteers. Our work relies on the wonderful community that lends their products, time or expertise to our mission. THANK YOU!

Bike Share is expanding — again!
Good news, everyone! This June Kansas City B-Cycle will expand again. Phase 3 will add B-stations at 18th & Vine, Union Hill, Martini Corner, the Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art, and along the Trolley Track Trail in Brookside and Waldo. Together with the Westport and Country Club Plaza stations added last October, we are growing to 27 B-stations, just a few stations shy of world domination.

Last week INK Magazine talked to Kansas City B-cycle Program Manager Eric Vaughan about borrowing culture, safe streets, and the positive changes that improved cycling and pedestrian experiences can have for our region.
