Mini-grant applications now open for Ruby Bridges Walk to School Day

In 1960, six-year-old Ruby Bridges etched her name in history when she integrated her all-white school in New Orleans. Ruby Bridges Walk to School Day honors the living legacy of civil rights activist Ruby Bridges. Safe Routes Partnership is offering a limited number of mini-grants to help schools celebrate Ruby's courageous and historic act. Grant applications are due by Friday, October 2.

All aboard the Midtown bike bus!

Parents at three Midtown schools (Foreign Language Academy, and Academie Lafayette Cherry & AL Oak) are joining together for a bigger, better bike bus—and you can join in! Email bikebus@bikewalkkc.org to get connected to the group. 

Aug. 23 📆 Bike Bus Info Night + Paint Party Anyone from any corner of the KC metro who interested in bike buses is invited to join us for this biking-back-to-school-bash! Come ask questions, meet other families interested in bike buses, and paint your own BIKE BUS t-shirts!

The Dangerous by Design report paints a sobering and familiar picture about traffic violence in our region. We shouldn’t be silent about what’s happening to our neighbors, and our decision makers shouldn’t hesitate to take steps that we know will work.

Urgent 🚨 Tell Congress you want a transportation bill that makes everyone safer

Pedestrian deaths are high, fuel prices are high, and Congress wants to cut safe streets and transit. The BUILD America 250 Act would entirely abandon programs intended to reconnect communities, build healthy streets, and invest in active transportation, while cutting transit funding by at least 20%. At the same time, highway spending goes up, and there’s no guarantee that the administration will honor previously awarded grants.
