Public Meeting for Independence 2040 Master Plan

Independence is updating its comprehensive master plan, which will guide decisions about how the community develops between now and 2040.

Let’s make sure the vision for Independence’s future includes a multimodal transportation system that improves walking, biking and transit.

Some things to ask for:

• A connected network of low-stress bike lanes that connect residents with key destinations like work, school, shopping, and other services
• Continued expansion of the city’s burgeoning trail system
• Filling gaps in the sidewalk network, with priority for connections to schools, transit, and services
• Expanded transit service to make it easier to get around Independence without driving everywhere
