Opening of the Katy Trail Extension to Kansas City
The long-anticipated extension of the Katy Trail to Kansas City hits a big milestone with the opening and dedication of the the first phase of the new Rock Island Trail from Windsor to Pleasant Hill in the southeast corner of the metro area. By 2019 the next phase will open between I-470 and the Truman Sports Complex.
Please join Gov. Jay Nixon and Missouri State Parks in opening the 47.5 mile extension of the Katy Trail along Rock Island Trail State Park. A dedication ceremony will take place Saturday, Dec. 10 at 2 p.m. at the trailhead at 308 West Commercial in Pleasant Hill.
Help us celebrate this important extension of the Katy Trail and honor those who have helped to make it possible. Please also plan to join the Governor on the trail following the ceremony.
