BikeWalkKC is excited to welcome four community leaders to our Board of Directors!
Alejandra Frias-Fraire of Kansas City, KS
Environmental Scientist at Burns and McDonnell Engineering
Alejandra got her start in community advocacy in college while researching the connection between industrial pollution and health inequities in the Armourdale community of Kansas City, KS, and Wyandotte County. She previously served on the board of Clean Air Now in KCK, and continues to be an environmental justice advocate in her community. Alejandra works to make systems more equitable for the people most impacted.
Leah Maugans of Leawood, KS
Community volunteer, licensed occupational therapist
Leah’s advocacy journey started when her 6 year-old son was hit by a car while out for a family walk in her neighborhood, which lacked sidewalks and crosswalks. She advocated for a new crosswalk policy for the entire city of Leawood. Leah now chairs the city’s Bike/Walk advisory committee and also serves on the Kansas Safe Routes to School Committee for KDOT.
Mark Schloegel of Kansas City, MO

Mark is an attorney and bike advocate who also serves on the board of Urban Trail Co, the nonprofit volunteer organization that builds and maintains Greater Kansas City’s amazing singletrack trail system. His firm often represents individuals who have been hit and injured while walking or biking. Mark is a former road, cyclocross, and mountain bike racer. These days you will find Mark biking with his kids, especially on the Swope and Blue River trails.
