Streetcar – Linwood Boulevard

Both Linwod Boulevard and 31st Street are being studied for Midtown’s east/west streetcar. Linwood provides the best opportunity to create a Complete Street that thrives for all modes – cars, transit, bikes, pedestrians, etc.

BikeWalkKC Proposal: Center-running streetcar and a two-way cycletrack

What it could look like:

Features: Streetcar and automobiles in the middle two lanes, parking on the sides, two-way cycletrack protected behind "floating" parking, 8' and 11' sidewalks.

Real-world example (Seattle)

Seattle Streetcar with Green Lane cycletrack protected by a floating parking lane.

Katy Trail Connection

A cycletrack on Linwood would create an excellent urban connection to the future Rock Island Trail, the planned link from Kansas City to Missouri's Katy Trail State Park. Linwood could connect the Katy Trail to the heart of the urban core and bring to the edge of Downtown.
