With International Walk to School Day coming up on October 9th, BikeWalkKC is offering two workshops to help parents and schools get more kids walking and biking to school. Both workshops will be at the American Jazz Museum at 18th and Vine, and are provided free of charge to thanks to the support of the Kansas City Health Department.
1. School Professional Workshop, September 12th, 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
For teachers, school administrators, transportation directors, and other school personnel to get the tools and ideas to implement Safe Routes to School programs and infrastructure improvements.
Topics include:
- Walking School Buses
- Pick-up and drop-off improvements
- Bike Trains
- Parent involvement
- Grants and funding for infrastructure improvements
2. Community Workshop, September 26th, 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.

For parents, care givers, and community members. Learn what is working in local neighborhoods and around the country. Innovative programs like Walking School Buses, Bike Trains, crosswalk improvements, and more.
