Update: over 200 people contacted the City Council! Thank you for speaking up for bicycling. This petition is now closed, but we do still need some Northlanders to sign. Please contact info@bikewalkkc.org.
Eleven miles of bike routes are being repaved this fall. Sign the petition asking the City to include bike lanes and sharrows when new asphalt hits the streets in the coming weeks.
KCMO voters just approved a new plan to invest millions of new dollars into repaving and repairing city streets, and the first wave of asphalt is about to hit the ground. 16 miles of streets on the Bike KC plan are included, so we are calling on the city to ensure these streets get bike lanes when they are repaved.
Click here to sign the petition for City officials, or keep reading for more information. We only have a few days to make sure bike lanes are included, so please act now!
Bike routes about to be repaved include:
- Charlotte and Holmes Streets
- Bannister Road
- NW 68th Street
- NW Barry Road
- 19th Street
- Van Brunt Boulevard
- See map of all bike routes schedule for repaving this fall.
Adding bike lanes (or sharrows) when streets are repaved is the easiest and most efficient way to make our city more bikeable. Unfortunately we have missed too many opportunities over the last decade since the BIke KC plan was created. In 2011 over five miles of the Bike KC plan were repaved without the inclusion of bike lanes or sharrows.
We can do better this year.

Over a thousand Kansas Citians have sent postcards asking local mayors to put paint to pavement for more crosswalks and bike lanes.
