In Your Community: St. Joseph, MO

BikeWalkKC Programs and Services

In 2015, the City of St. Joseph brought us to their community to help build local capacity for bike education. We offered our Confident City Cycling series to a large group of people that ranged from teens to senior citizens. It also included people dealing with housing insecurity and other vulnerable communities.

The City then hosted a training for local residents to become certified cycling instructors by the League of American Bicyclists, growing local capacity for bicycle education.

Ways to Get Involved
We are encouraged by the recent appointment of Bill Heatherman as the city’s Public Works Director. Bill was previously the City Engineer in Kansas City, KS, where he was an important champion for active transportation and Safe Routes to School.
