Have you ever been in a place that made you feel so wonderful you wanted to bottle the feeling up, but you don't actually know why? Hear a panel of community planners share how they create places you hold near and dear.
BikeWalkKC's Tresa Carter hosts special guests:
- Triveece Penelton leads community engagement and long-range planning services at Vireo. She is also the creator of the Digicate® software application for community engagement. Triveece is an Inaugural Steering Committee Member of Planning for Health Equity, Advocacy & Leadership (PHEAL) and an alumna of the Racial Equity Institute. Her work has won national and state awards for engagement, journalism, and communications along with a NOMA NAACP Seed Award for Justice, Equity, Diversity and Inclusion (JEDI) in Design. Triveece has over 20 years of experience and founded Penelton Interactive during 2022 to provide JEDI consulting and professional development.
- Jenna Fernandez is an Urban Planner at Landworks Studio, a Landscape Architecture and Planning firm, with an established passion for people and the environment. With a background in graphic design and a BA in Urban Planning + Design from UMKC, she specializes in inclusive public engagement, public space planning and design, strategic planning, and accessible planning documents. Jenna is passionate about exploring the integration of graphic design and marketing strategies into planning projects to increase awareness, accessibility, and sustainability. She is a KC-APA member, resident of the Oak Park North neighborhood, and enjoys visiting local coffee shops.
- Sara Copeland is new to her role as a Senior Transportation Planner at Burns and McDonnell. Her previous experience was in public service as a City Planner for the City of Grandview, and most recently as the Community Development Director for North Kansas City.
