A class from BikeWalkKC
KC’s most comprehensive adult bike training. Participants learn new concepts for navigating streets & build practical bike handling skills.
This 2 part class is perfect for the curious-but-cautious as well as the seasoned rider. Skills will be practiced in a space away from as much moving traffic as possible and a route will be provided for the on-road portion. Participants can expect to cover the following topics.
- Lane positioning, rules of the road and different infrastructure across KC (classroom portion)
- Basic skills practice + light maintenance (bike needed)
- Hazard avoidance practice + road ride assessment (bike needed)
The classes will be held at the BikeWalkKC office. This class is $50 per person and fees are nonrefundable. Ticket price covers refreshments, instructor fees and other costs. Please bring your own helmet and bike, and be sure your tires are inflated and your brakes are working.
Class 1: Tuesday, March 10, 2026: 5:30pm - 8:30pm
Lane Positioning, Rules of the Road, KC Infrastructure - The classroom portion of the class covers the law as it relates to bicyclists, where should bike riders be in the lane, what is the different types of infrastructure found across Kansas City and much more!
Class 2: Saturday, March 14, 2026, 9am - 3:00pm
Skills practice, hazard moves and group bike ride - This portion of the class is on-bike and outside. We will cover some basic skills like starting and stopping and progress into hazard maneuvers. The day will end with a group bike ride and participants will receive feedback on their handling skills. Snacks will be provided but participants will need to bring their own lunch.
