Bench PLEASE!!!

September 21, 2024 @ 6:30 pm - 11:00 pm

An event from the Hyperstition Collective

Join the Hyperstition Collective for a Bus Bench Fundraiser Dance Party at Manheim Gardens on September 21!

Car-based infrastructure is ruining our city, ruining our lungs, ruining our atmosphere, and ruining people’s budgets. Even though KC clearly needs better transit, our leaders choose instead to prioritize private profits and parking lots. That ain't right!

The state of the city’s bus stops is a clear example of the neglect of our bus system - many are little more than an undignified pole stuck in the ground next to the road. It's high time the people decided to take matters into their own hands: Forward-thinking community leaders are planning to build and install benches at bus stops around the city, with or without permission.

But benches cost money to build! That’s why we’re hosting this party - all proceeds will go toward the purchase of supplies to build and install bus stop benches. Your attendance at this party can fundamentally alter the landscape of KC and bring us one step closer to the accessible and interconnected city we deserve.

As the sun sets over the garden, we will take advantage of the liminal energy created by the Equinox on September 21 and the magic of the plants and insects to create a transformational musical experience, powered by soulful, organic house music.

Suggested donation for tickets is $10. You can also choose to make an additional donation to our Bus Bench Fund on top of your ticket during checkout. If you have the means, do consider donating! All proceeds after operating costs go directly toward purchasing supplies for bus benches.

Bring your dancing shoes and leave your worldly troubles behind - join us for an unforgettable equinox night of house music and liberation!

About the hosts:

The Hyperstition Collective (@hyperstition.kc) exists to call forward a future of joyful abundance by creating liberatory dance parties in the present, outside of the profit-maximizing, clout-seeking strictures of the status quo. Our inclusive, community-centric dance floors aim to embody collective joy as an empowering act of resistance, unleashing the transformational and liberatory power of house and techno.

Manheim Gardens (@manheimgardens) is an inclusive community garden and green space in the urban core of Kansas City, Missouri. At almost 2 acres, the garden provides an enriching place for neighbors, children, and adults alike to learn, grow, play, and thrive. As a 100% volunteer run 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, dedication and heart are at the core of everything they do. Manheim Gardens offers growing space and free produce for neighbors, hosts community events and educational activities, and practices regenerative gardening and farming.
