Policy Briefs

We advocate for walking and biking because we believe they are simple solutions to some of KC’s most complex problems like health, climate, economics, and mobility. Our work often intersects with other areas like housing, employment, policing, etc. And those issues often intersect with our work.

BikeWalkKC is grateful to have a growing network of diverse partners with which we increasingly work together to support each other and our shared goals. Sometimes we lead on issues core to our mission. Sometimes we follow organizations that take the lead on other important issues.

We are creating a series of Policy Briefs that explain why and how we engage with intersectional issues like housing, environment, policing, equity, and more.

#1. Housing

Housing is not truly affordable if residents must drive everywhere to access jobs, education, and other services.

#2. Environment

Transportation is now the #1 source of the greenhouse gasses causing the climate crisis. The decisions we make around it are integral to how we address the existential crisis of climate change.

#3. Economic Development

Multimodal infrastructure plays a vital role in how we develop our local economies and who we enable to thrive within them.
