Amy believes philanthropy is a super power. She has had the distinct privilege to work with philanthropic superheroes – people just like you – for 20+ years. She has helped raise millions of dollars in support of services for domestic violence survivors, employment and support programs for people with disabilities, free and accessible eye care for underserved populations, several museums, and a research library.
Amy’s husband Chris is an endurance cyclist and former bike mechanic. Amy became a reluctant cyclist when they bought a tandem bike. There is profound truth in the statement: “Wherever you are going in a relationship, you get there faster on a tandem.” Amy and Chris remain happily married.
Her undergraduate degree is from Eastern New Mexico University where she majored in English, minored in Sociology and Women’s Studies with an Emphasis in French language (in other words, she loves to learn!). She attended graduate school at the University of Cincinnati, but left her program when she fell in love with nonprofit work and fundraising. She has no regrets.
BikeWalkKC’s work and mission is personal for Amy. She would do anything to keep her husband safe while he rides his bike on Kansas City’s streets. She wants everyone to have the opportunity to ride, skate, roll, walk, or hop on streets and in communities that are safe and welcoming for all.
