Questions, Answers, and More Info

The Tour de Bier is a fundraiser for BikeWalkKC, the Kansas City region’s active transportation advocacy and education nonprofit. We work to redefine our streets as places for people to build a culture of active living. Your Tour de Bier registration fee funds our advocacy work in city halls and state houses on both sides of the state line, plus bicycle education for thousands of local kids and adults every year. Thank you for riding the Tour de Bier!

Registration is now closed.

We're going green! This year's Tour de Bier will feature a digital race bag via our mobile site powered by Fanomena. This digital "bag" contains your drink tickets, lunch ticket, and special deals from our partners. A link to this site will be E-MAILED to you in advance of the ride period (September 1-30).

Your digital race bag is specific to YOU and cannot be shared (all food and drink redemptions are final once used).

If you register by Thursday, August 5, your t-shirt will be available to pick up at Bar K Dog Bar near Berkley Riverfront Park any time during the ride period (check Bar K's website for their current business hours). Use the lunch ticket in your digital race bag to snag your free lunch; see the "Yes: there is lunch!" section for more details about food options from Bar K.

Question: What if I don't have a smartphone?

Printed packets will be available at all participating breweries and at Bar K. You may still pick up your t-shirt from Bar K if you registered before August 5.

Want to say "hi!" in person? BikeWalkKC staff will be set up at Bar K to help pass out t-shirts and merch from 9 a.m.-12 p.m. on these days:
Saturday 9/4 and Sunday 9/5; Sunday 9/12; Sunday 9/19; and Sunday 9/26

BikeWalkKC staff will be set up at Bar K to help pass out t-shirts and merch from 9 a.m.-12 p.m. on these days:

Saturday 9/4 and Sunday 9/5; Sunday 9/12; Sunday 9/19; and Sunday 9/26

You can also visit Bar K any time during their regular business hours to use your free lunch ticket and pick up your t-shirt, merch. They have a list with your name and order listed.

As always, you can choose your distance. Downloadable maps will be E-MAILED to you in advance of the event period (September 1-30th). All routes begin and finish at Berkley Riverfront Park:

The Lager tour is approximately 15 miles and hits all the highlights of brewing history in Kansas City. Roll by old breweries, ice houses and discover the best of Kansas City’s rich brewing history in a cool tour of Kansas City’s urban core. This tour will take you through North Kansas City, the River Market, Crossroads, and Downtown.

IPA Tour is approximately 30 miles, and the best of both worlds from NKC to Westport. This tour hits many historic KC highlights including beautiful Cliff Drive, the Nelson-Atkins, and the 18th and Vine District, past many lovely old homes in some of Kansas City’s famous historic neighborhoods.

Dunkel is approximately 40 miles long and is for those who want to get in some more miles and learn about beer history. This route takes you past the major highlights, crosses into Kansas for the first time in Tour history, and then east to Crane Brewery in Raytown. After that, you return on the beautiful streets of southern Jackson County to finish your Tour riding through historic neighborhoods of Kansas City.

REMEMBER: Commuter, touring, hybrid and mountain bikes are recommended for all three routes, but not necessary. This is an urban ride, and you will experience railroad crossings, pot holes, and rough spots. The Tour can be ridden with skinny tires but bring some tubes and a pump! The 2021 Tour de Bier is self-supported - see below for more information.

Your registration entitles you to up to five free samples from our participating breweries (limit one sample per brewery). Simply press "REDEEM" on each drink ticket from your "digital race bag" in front of a brewery staff member to receive your sample. You may redeem your free samples any time during the ride period, September 1-30. Check breweries' open/close times before heading out:

REMEMBER:

Always be kind to the brewery staff and follow brewery guidelines. Coronavirus is still with us. Follow all brewery guidelines for masking and distancing, avoid touching your face, and thoroughly wash your hands frequently. Help them keep their space tidy by disposing of trash in garbage cans, and please do not drink to-go beers on brewery property.

Note that the busiest times for the breweries and Bar K will be on the weekends. Consider scheduling your ride during the week to avoid crowds.

We've partnered with our friends at Bar K Dog Bar so you can enjoy ANY item from their "Sandwiches and More" menu any time during the ride period, September 1-30. Your lunch ticket is available in your "digital race bag," which will be EMAILED to you in advance of the ride period.

Humans get in free; be sure to check your "digital race bag" for a special coupon to bring your furry companion!

That's absolutely right! Thanks to our sponsors, all registered Tour de Bier participants get automatically entered to win sweet prizes.

Winners will be selected through a random drawing on Friday, October 1 and notified by e-mail.

COVID-19 is still with us, so take this pre-ride self-assessment before you head out! In the past 24 hours have you experienced any of the following:

Felt feverish? Chills? New or worsening cough? Shortness of breath? Sore throat? Diarrhea? Loss of sense of smell or taste?

Have you been in close contact with someone who has COVID-19? Have you been tested for COVID-19, but do not have the results?

If the answer to any of these questions is YES, do not ride or visit the breweries. Contact your healthcare provider.

COVID-19 Social Distancing:

In order to be good citizens and protect the health of the community and ride partners:

Wear a mask/face covering during prolonged stops. No spitting or "snot rockets.” Maintain >6ft distance when off the bike. Wash your hands / sanitize your hands thoroughly and frequently. Don't share snacks or bottles or tools. Riders who have a mechanical problem must make their own roadside repairs. If riding near others, maintain at least 10-12ft distance between others' bikes.

The routes are provided to guide you through KC’s brewing past and present, and includes mile markers and other helpful details to get you from brewery to brewery. You may deviate as you wish but we encourage you to always remain aware of your surroundings as you explore the city on two wheels. You may also redeem any of your free samples at time(s) of your choosing within the ride period (September 1-30, 2021), during the breweries’ regular operating hours.
