SUMMARY:Confident City Cycling Class
DESCRIPTION:An event from BikeWalkKC\n\n\nKC’s most comprehensive adult bike training! This 2-part class is perfect for the curious-but-cautious as well as the seasoned rider. Skills will be practiced in a space away from as much moving traffic as possible and a route will be provided for the on-road portion. Participants can expect to cover the following topics: \n  \n\n\nNovember 11\, 2026: 5:30pm – 8:30pm (indoor classroom setting\, no bike or helmet needed) \n\nLane positioning\, rules of the road\, and different infrastructure across KC (classroom portion)\nThe classroom portion of the class covers the law as it relates to bicyclists\, where should bike riders be in the lane\, what is the different types of infrastructure found across Kansas City and much more!\n\nNovember 14\, 2026: 9:00am – 2:00pm (primarily outdoors\, bike + helmet needed) \n\nBasic skills practice\, hazard avoidance drills\, and group ride\nThis portion of the class is on-bike and outside. We will cover some basic skills like starting and stopping and progress into hazard maneuvers. The day will end with a group bike ride and participants will receive feedback on their handling skills. We will also review basic bike maintenance. Snacks will be provided but participants will need to bring their own lunch.\n\nThe classes will be held at the BikeWalkKC office. We highly recommend attending both sessions. Your fee covers both days and the content builds on itself. Please bring your own helmet and bike\, and be sure your tires are inflated and your brakes are working. \n\n\n\nAttending both days of this class satisfies the prerequisite course needed for League Cycling Instructor (LCI) certification.
