SUMMARY:League Cycling Instructor (LCI) Training Seminar
DESCRIPTION:Register now		\n			\n	\n\n\n \n\nThis is a BikeWalkKC event \nBikeWalkKC and the Major Taylor Cycling Club of Kansas City will host a 3-day League Cycling Instructor (LCI) seminar for prospective bike safety educators June 7 through June 9\, 2024 in Kansas City\, Missouri. \n The training will prepare prospective educators to teach the League of American Bicyclists’ Smart Cycling curriculum to people of all ages and at various levels of experience. Newly certified LCIs are equipped to teach courses that cover youth riding\, how to ride confidently and legally with other traffic\, how to share paths and trails\, motorist education\, bike handling and avoidance maneuvers\, group riding\, and more. Additional benefits from taking the course include access to the League’s bike safety curriculum and teaching materials\, coverage under the League’s general liability insurance\, and membership in a national network of bike educators. \n\nEarly bird (now through May 9) registration is $500\nRegular registration (May 10-May 17) is $575. \nCourse fee includes 3 days of classroom and on-bike instruction and practice\, a t-shirt\, and all course materials including the Smart Cycling Manual\, Youth Manual\, and Group Riding Manual. \nPrerequisites for the training include completion of the Smart Cycling Complete class (if you’ve taken BikeWalkKC Confident City Cycling\, you’ve taken Smart Cycling Complete) and individual membership with the League of American Bicyclists at $45 per year. Prospective LCIs should have experience riding on roadways and be comfortable and confident riding with others\, and they are expected to have a basic level of knowledge about safe cycling and bike maintenance. \n\nVanessa Bissey-Beard\, who will teach the Kansas City\, Missouri seminar\, has been a National League Cycling Coach since 2013.
