Tour de Bier 2020 Postponement and Frequently Asked Questions

This has been a difficult and challenging time for everyone in the region, and we are asking the cycling community for support and patience as we navigate our first-ever reschedule of BikeWalkKC’s annual fundraising event, the Tour de Bier. We take the health and safety of our riders very seriously and we are grateful for your understanding during this unprecedented time.

Frequently Asked Questions and Answers

Q. What is the new date?

A. The 2020 Tour de Bier will be held on Sunday, August 9.

A. No. We will ride from Berkley Riverfront Park, and return for the post-ride party!

A. No. We have automatically transferred your ticket to the August 9 date.

A. Absolutely! Click here to register for the Tour de Bier (BikeWalkKC members get $10 off!).

A. The Tour de Bier is BikeWalkKC’s annual fundraiser and the largest single-day charity bike ride in the region. While the COVID-19 crisis caused us to reschedule the date, our team has continued to work tirelessly to increase the safety, health, sustainability, walkability, and bikeability of the Kansas City region.

Typically a “no refunds” fundraising event, the Tour de Bier provides critical funds to sustain BikeWalkKC’s work.

Without the Tour de Bier, BikeWalkKC could not have been founded 10 years ago. We take our responsibility for the health and safety of our riders, brewery partners, and volunteers seriously. We also have a responsibility to our employees, our community partners, and the viability of our organization. We opted to reschedule, rather than cancel, this event in the hopes that the majority of registrants could participate and come together to celebrate cycling together. Canceling and refunding all participants would make it impossible for our organization to continue as is; we could not retain staff, programming, and would potentially have to default on contracts with community partners who rely on us.

Options if you are unable to participate on the new date:

  • Transfer your ticket to another person (no change fee required).
  • Consider your registration as a donation to BikeWalkKC. BikeWalkKC is a qualified 501(c)3 nonprofit charity and your donation is tax-deductible to the extent allowed by law.
  • If financial or health-related constraints prevent you from either option, please call us to request a refund. Please call Karen Campbell, director of development, at 816-205-7056, ext. 2.

A. Yes, however, given the chances of late summer heat, riders are urged to prepare for and practice good on-bike hydration, take advantage of the ample water stops and A/C where possible, and keep a comfortable pace for the conditions.
