Current Status of Programs, Events, and Activities

Updated Monday, May 18th, 2020.

Our office is closed to the public and most employees are working at home until further notice. Our team is still available via email and phone during regular business hours. We anticipate remaining closed until at least June 15th, 30 days after the “soft re-opening” that started in Kansas City on May 15th.

Our Tour de Bier fundraising ride has been rescheduled to August 9th. The Women+ Confident City Cycling series starting April 23rd is now an online event. Check our Events Calendar for details and updates on other events.

We cannot accept bike donations at this time. Please hang onto those bikes and we will gratefully accept them when our office re-opens.

Please keep on walking and biking. Social distancing is critical but difficult. Walking and biking are still safe ways to get some fresh air, move around the city, get some exercise, and protect your mental health during this difficult period. Check our Stay at Home KC FAQ for frequently asked questions about walking and biking during the Stay at Home Order, as well as the status of local bike shops, parks, trails, transit, etc.

Thank you for your support. Similar to many non-profits and small businesses, BikeWalkKC’s financial sustainability has been threatened by the COVID-19 outbreak. If you are able to, please consider making a donation or purchasing a membership for yourself, your household, or your organization. Any amount helps, and we appreciate your support at this difficult time..

Health and Safety Guidance
We host events and programs throughout the year that support 10,000+ participants, which are core to our mission, our financial viability, and the livelihoods of our 30-plus employees. That said, we take our responsibilities very seriously and will not allow that dependence to supersede public health needs. BikeWalkKC is following the guidance of the Kansas City Health Department pertaining to the COVID-19 coronavirus. However, you should follow their recommendations and use your own judgement about participation in activities.
