Virtual Events

“Let’s Talk” is our online series with invited guests and community leaders talking about the issues of the day, and how the pandemic is accelerating changes already in progress. Check our event calendar for upcoming events, and view past events on-demand.

Youth Education

BikeWalkKC operates one of the country’s largest youth bike education and Safe Routes to School programs. We now offer a range of in-person (outdoor) and remote options for schools, learning pods, and neighborhoods. For schools returning to in-person learning, we are now scheduling programs from the spring and summer.

Adult Education and Outreach

  • In-person (outdoor) classes are back! We plan to host a LCI Seminar in 2021 for those wanting to become a Licensed Cycling Instructor.
  • Each month we offer at least one virtual adult bike education class in cooperation with the Johnson County Library. Topics include bike maintenance and confident city cycling.

Advocacy and Public Policy

We continue to fight for you at local City Halls and State Capitols virtually. Most recently we celebrated the November adoption of a new Complete Streets policy by the Unified Government of Wyandotte County/Kansas City, KS. Visit our advocacy page for current campaigns and opportunities to contact your elected officials.

Bike Donations

We cannot accept bike donations at this time. Please hang onto those bikes and we will gratefully accept them when our office re-opens.

RideKC Bike

The bike share program that BikeWalkKC operates with the KC Area Transportation Authority is operating normally with extra sanitation procedures and new supports for small businesses and health care workers. Visit for information.

Resources for pandemic transportation and physical activity

Did you join the “bike boom” or have you turned to the outdoors to maintain your physical and mental health? We have a catalog of local resources and options for walking and biking.

Thank you for your support. Similar to many non-profits and small businesses, BikeWalkKC’s financial sustainability has been threatened by the pandemic. If you are able to, please consider making a donation or purchasing a membership for yourself, your household, or your organization. Any amount helps, and we appreciate your support at this difficult time..
