BikeWalkKC operates one of the country’s largest youth bike education and Safe Routes to School programs. In-school programming is currently on hold pending school districts’ decisions about fall semester. In the spring semester of 2020 we converted much of our curriculum to an online format for those schools and students that will be learning remotely this fall.
Advocacy and Public Policy
We continue to fight for you at local City Halls and State Capitols virtually. Visit our advocacy page for current campaigns and opportunities to contact your elected officials.
We cannot accept bike donations at this time. Please hang onto those bikes and we will gratefully accept them when our office re-opens.
The bike share program that BikeWalkKC operates with the KC Area Transportation Authority is operating normally with extra sanitation procedures and new supports for small businesses and health care workers. Visit ridekcbike.com for information.
Pandemic Questions and Answers
Check our Stay at Home KC FAQ for frequently asked questions about walking and biking during the Stay at Home Order, as well as the status of local bike shops, parks, trails, transit, etc. Please keep on walking and biking. Social distancing is critical but difficult. Walking and biking are still safe ways to get some fresh air, move around the city, get some exercise, and protect your mental health during this difficult period.
Thank you for your support. Similar to many non-profits and small businesses, BikeWalkKC’s financial sustainability has been threatened by the COVID-19 outbreak. If you are able to, please consider making a donation or purchasing a membership for yourself, your household, or your organization. Any amount helps, and we appreciate your support at this difficult time..
