SUMMARY:Merriam Connected Corridor Plan Open House
DESCRIPTION:See more \n \n	\n\n\n\n\nYou’re invited to attend the Merriam Connected Corridor Plan public open house on Tuesday\, April 12 from 5:30-7:30 p.m. at the Merriam Community Center. \nThe plan is a joint effort among Overland Park\, Merriam\, the Unified Government of Kansas City\, Kansas and Wyandotte County\, and Mid-America Regional Council to envision the future of the Merriam Corridor\, a 4-mile stretch of Merriam Drive/Lane from W. 55th St. to S. 10th St. \nKEY PLAN ELEMENTS INCLUDE: \n\nVehicular safety and traffic flow improvements\nMultimodal connectivity along and to the corridor\nDevelopment and redevelopment opportunities\nBranding and streetscape enhancements\nTurkey Creek Trail enhancements and integration\nEnvironmental sustainability \n\n\n\n\nPROJECT OVERVIEW\n\n\nThe Merriam Connected Corridor Plan is a planning study that will assess all transportation modes along and around Merriam Drive/Lane\, including vehicular traffic\, bicycle and pedestrian infrastructure\, and public transit. The study will also assess the development and growth patterns within the corridor study area. \nThe corridor study area includes Merriam Drive/Lane and a buffer of approximately one-quarter mile\, running from W. 55th Street to S. 10th Street and includes portions of the cities of Merriam\, Overland Park\, Mission\, and Kansas City\, Kansas. The portion of Merriam Drive/Lane to be studied is approximately four miles long. \nStudy of the Turkey Creek Trail is another important aspect of this project. Missing linkages will be addressed to enhance the recreational and commuting potential of the trail\, and flood management mechanisms will be explored to make the trail more resilient in the event of severe weather. \n\nContact\nErin Ollig\, AICP\nManager\, Strategic Planning Division\nCity of Overland Park \nerin.ollig@opkansas.org\n913.895.6242

SUMMARY:KC Levee Trails Open House
DESCRIPTION:How would you use a more extensive levee trail system? Come to this open house to learn more and give feedback about the Unified Government’s plans. We advocate for opening more of our region’s extensive levee system for trail development\, especially in KCK. Developing more trails along the Kansas River would not only create excellent new recreational opportunities\, it would also increase access to industrial jobs in the Argentine\, Armourdale\, and Central Industrial Districts. \nIf you’re unable to attend the meeting\, share your thoughts on this survey: www.surveymonkey.com/r/kcleveetrail \nFor additional comments and questions\, contact Sarah White at swhite@wycokck.org
