Cleaver Boulevard Project

Cleaver Boulevard is being revamped with a road that converts some automobile space into people space with new bike lanes, new sidewalks, landscaping, and other features to make it a more human-scale street.

The background. Planning for project began in 2010. Since Cleaver is a key route on the city's Bike KC plan, we became and involved and participated on the project's community advisory committee.

The plan includes several features

  • Road Diet reducing the automobile space from six to four lanes
  • Removal of all on-street parking
  • Bike lanes
  • New curbs and sidewalks
  • Landscaping
  • New streetlights
  • Solar-powered bus shelters

Next steps. The first phases between Rockhill Road and the The Paseo are expected to begin construcion in 2013.
