Safe Routes to School Planner

Joe is BikeWalkKC’s Safe Routes to School Planner and works primarily with Kansas City, Missouri Public Schools (KCPS). Joe’s work goes beyond the traditional Safe Routes to School Programming and looks to utilize school communities as a catalyst for a community based participatory planning effort where the ideas of active transportation and mobility choice, neighborhood safety and vitality, and the overall sense of community are central. Joe received his Bachelor’s degree in Urban and African American Studies from Fordham University in 2008 and received his Master’s Degree in City and Regional Planning from Pratt Institute in Brooklyn, NY in early 2013. Joe has experience in the nonprofit direct social services field — having worked with vulnerable populations in both Los Angeles and Northern Kentucky — and has experience in the public sector in both New York City and most recently Roeland Park, KS.
