UPDATE: The trailer has been recovered! THANK YOU to the detectives and everyone who sent in tips to help us recover our trailer. It's been vandalized and damaged, and the bikes are still missing, but we are so grateful to have the trailer back.
An education trailer with 15 bikes inside was stolen from BikeWalkKC's office near 30th and Troost the night of March 6, or the early hours of March 7, 2023. The timing of this theft could not be worse. The trailer and bikes were scheduled to go to a school this Thursday, March 9.
If you see the trailer, please contact KCMO police at 816-234-5510. Refer to case number KC23014164.
Below is a picture of the inside of the trailer loaded with the bikes and equipment that was taken. The trailer is black on the outside, measures approximately 7’x12’, and has a Missouri license plate 02L0YL.
BikeWalkKC needs to raise $28,000 to replace the trailer, bikes, helmets, and other items that were inside the trailer.
BikeWalkKC education staff have a full schedule of schools ready for spring bike programs, so we need to recover or replace the trailer and bikes ASAP.
If you are able to contribute a financial gift, we have a special online donation page here.
These bikes are part of our Safe Routes to School and youth development programs that serve thousands kids at schools in the urban core and high poverty areas around the region.
Thank you for any help you can provide tracking down the trailer and bikes, or making a donation!
