Tour de Bier returns for a one-day, in-person event on September 18 at Berkley Riverfront Park!
Kansas City’s beloved bike and beer fundraising event features some of Kansas City’s best local breweries - and when riders raise their glasses this year, they will support not one, but two local nonprofit organizations.
BikeWalkKC and Head for the Cure have joined forces to raise money for better walking and biking infrastructure in the region, and to support brain cancer research.
“The idea to partner came up while we were drinking a beer together,” laughed Eric Rogers, Executive Director and Co-founder of BikeWalkKC. “Matt has participated in the Tour de Bier since its inception in 2010. As we’ve gotten to know each other, I’ve learned more about his love of riding and his passion for finding a cure for brain cancer.”
“It’s amazing to me how many cycling friends know someone who had, or has, brain cancer,” explained Matt Anthony, Founder and President of Head for the Cure. “While talking to Eric, we realized that the Tour de Bier could be a great opportunity to raise money for two local charities that already share many of the same supporters.”
“When nonprofits partner on fundraising events, they are giving people a chance to maximize their impact on the community. With the Tour de Bier, participants are also supporting local breweries,” stated Eric Rogers.
“It’s a partnership model I hope more nonprofits will consider,” said Matt Anthony.
Registration is open now. The Tour de Bier will start at Berkley Riverfront Park, and three different routes will take riders through North Kansas City; Kansas City, Missouri; Mission, Kansas; and Raytown, Missouri before ending back at Berkley Riverfront Park for a finish line party with lunch, beer, and music. Ticket sales are capped and are expected to sell out.
