New faces, new roles at BikeWalkKC

Since our launch in 2011 BikeWalkKC has grown by leaps and bounds into one of the largest bike/ped advocacy organizations in the country. Not only have we grown in size and scope, we’ve also grown in terms of the complexity and sophistication of the work our team is doing every day. In response to this evolution, we have revised some of our leadership team titles to better reflect how our roles have evolved. We’ve also added some new faces along the way in 2017 and look forward to more growth and change in 2018!

Maggie Priesmeyer, Director of Programs
Formerly our Education Programs Manager, Maggie leads many of our public-facing programs like Adult Education, Youth Education, Women Bike KC, and Safe Routes to School. In addition, she oversees the design of new programs and ongoing program evaluation.

Eric Vaughan, Director of Bike Share and Business Services
Previously Bike Share Program Manager, Eric leads Kansas City BCycle operations, system planning, and expansion. He also leads our business-focused programs like bike parking sales and bicycle-friendly business services.

Thomas Morefield, AICP, Director of Community Planning
Thomas leads the bike/ped planning and consulting practice, which assists local governments and other agencies with active transportation plans, neighborhood plans, and other consulting services to improve the built environment across Greater Kansas City.

Karen Campbell, Director of Development and Communications
Karen recently celebrated her first anniversary in this role. She leads our efforts to ensure we have the resources we need to do this important work, and to tell our story in the community.

Eric Bunch, Director of Policy and Co-Founder
Eric continues leading our crucial work to advocate for you in City Halls across the region, as well as state capitols and the halls of Congress. He is also deeply involved in our strategic planning, external partnerships, and capacity building efforts.

We’ve also had some recent additions and changes in our program staff. Be sure to say hi when you see them around town and out and about at our events.

Paige Jones, Bike Share Fleet Technician
Paige joined us in September 2017 as our full-time tech keeping the Kansas City BCycle system running smoothly 24/7/365. She was mostly recently part of the awesome VeloWagon team.

Liz Harris, Marketing and Events Coordinator
Liz has been with us the last few months supporting our marketing, events, and education teams with event planning, logistics, and all-around awesomeness.

Areonia King, Community Organizer for Wyandotte County
Areonia focuses on community organizing and outreach in Wyandotte County, where she is also an Americorps/VISTA volunteer for the Health Department.

David Hansen, Education Specialist
After serving as an Education Instructor for more than a year, Dave has taken on some additional duties providing administrative support to the Education Team and bookkeeping support for our Finance Manager.

I am incredibly proud of the excellent work and great passion of not just our leadership team, but our entire team here at BikeWalkKC. I am also deeply thankful to all our members, donors, funders, and partners who make it possible for us to strive everyday to redefine our streets as places for people to build a culture of active living.

Thank you!

Eric Rogers
Executive Director and Co-Founder
