Staffing changes

Today we share some bittersweet news about our team at BikeWalkKC, saying good-bye to one colleague and hello to another.

Joe Blankenship, our Safe Routes to School Planner, is moving to the KCMO City Hall where he joins the Long Range Planning division in the City Planning and Development Department. At BikeWalkKC Joe has been leading a partnership with KC Public Schools, supported by the Health Care Foundation of Greater Kansas City, to build community capacity and improve policy for walking and biking to school. He also led the initial planning for active living program at Live Well Johnson County, a partnership with the county’s health department to encourage adult health through public policy and community programming.  While we very sad to see Joe leave, we are also very excited to have another champion of active transportation inside City Hall.

John McClaflin, CPA, joins us as BikeWalkKC’s first Finance Manager. He will provide financial leadership for our rapidly growing organization, including accounting, grants management, and federal reimbursements. John has an extensive background in the private sector and has served as Chief Financial Officer at both Benedictine and William Jewell Colleges. He also has experience in the nonprofit sector, including at Goodwill Industries and Metro Lutheran Ministries. As BikeWalkKC continues growing from a startup into an established and successful nonprofit, the addition of John as Finance Manager will ensure we are positioned for future growth and long-term sustainability.
