KC Parks is showing their latest plan for the Cliff Drive and Spirit of KC Scenic Byway Connector Trail, which is a long way of saying a new trail under I-35 connecting the River Market and Columbus Park with the west end of Cliff Drive in Pendleton Heights.
In early 2014 the plan faced a potential setback when funding shortfalls led the Parks Department to consider scaling back the project in a way that could have severely impacted the safety of people on bikes. Thanks to strong public support KC Parks continued working on the design and seeking additional funding. The last update we received indicated that the project is much closer to the original trail plan.
