KCMO joins regional trail emergency signage system pioneered by Lenexa

Local cities are implementing a new trail signage system to help emergency services locate cyclists and pedestrians faster and more accurately. The new signs are placed every fifth of mile and display a location code that people use when calling 911. The codes are mapped in the regional 911 database, allowing dispatchers to quickly pinpoint where to send help.

The system was pioneered in Lenexa in 2009. The City of KCMO recently joined the system with signs on the Blue River and Indian Creek Trails.
