The City of Olathe continues to improve 127th Street to a four lane road. Earlier phases included bike lanes, but engineers have dropped bike lanes from the the plans for the next phase from Blackbob to Pflumm. Federal funding programs are critical to the bicycle and pedestrian facilities and programs in greater Kansas City. The Heart of America Bridge, Riverfront Heritage Trail, and Indian Creek Trail have been made possible by leveraging local funds with competitve federal grants. In the last 15 years over 100 projects have leveraged over $40 million federal funds to maximize $20 million in local dollars.
