Places for Bikes Conference
May 1 - May 3
The second annual PlacesForBikes Conference will bring together hundreds of leaders and thinkers to focus on the challenges and opportunities of building better bicycle infrastructure—fast. Inspiring speeches, breakout sessions, group conversations and peer-to-peer networking will help every attendee develop and refine an action plan to speed progress back home.
What topics will be covered?
The conference agenda centers on our four-part formula for building better biking: Plan, Build, Engage and Measure, and will include topics such as:
- planning complete bike networks
- building more equitable communities
- finding funding and engaging non-traditional partners
- overcoming bikelash
- making the business case for bicycling
- speeding project delivery and measuring success
Who will be there?
The conference is open to anyone interested in accelerating progress on biking in their community and building the political leadership to do so. It will be particularly helpful to communities that send delegations of change makers ready to roll up their sleeves and work as teams.
In 2017, attendees consisted of 25% business and community leaders, 23% elected officials and city staff, 20% bike industry leaders and retailers, 16% funders and foundations, and 16% advocates.
Indianapolis is home to the Indianapolis Cultural Trail, one of the most visionary urban bicycle and pedestrian infrastructure projects in the nation. Throughout the conference program, attendees will experience the community benefits of the Cultural Trail and Indy’s improving bike infrastructure.
